Rizmo will rock its way into your heart.

Rizmo, which is a combination of the words Rhythm and Monster comes in three colors – Snow, Aqua and Berry. Straight out of the box, you get Rizmo is baby mode. In baby mode, the only thing visible is a pair of glaring lights.

The more you play with Rizmo, the quicker it evolves. When the toy evolves into a child, a tail sticks out. From there you have to continue to play with it, to get it to evolve into a Rockstar.

Each color of Rizmo can either be a Pop Star or a Hip-Hop star – we received the Hip-Hop Star Rizmo. Which Rizmo you’ll receive is unpredictable. It took about 60 minutes to evolve from a baby to a Rockstar, which was slightly disappointing.

Rizmo‘s modes are designated by color – Green (Swing and Talk), Orange (Rolling Rhythms), Dark Blue (Music Maker), Yellow (Record Songs), Light Blue (Color Challenge), Pink (Dance to Music), Purple (Rock Me to Sleep).

To change the mode, you need to push the button on its head and swing it so it says “Let’s Go.”

Most of the time, Rizmo sits there doing its own thing when you leave it switched “on.” There are even times when it will randomly sing a song you recorded. In dance mode, Rizmo will dance even If it’s quiet and it does the same dance each time.

Rizmo is definitely an interactive toy a child will love, but some of the deep noises it makes when it’s evolving or angry may scare a child. One thing to keep in mind is that the more you teach Rizmo, more it will evolve on a memory level.

Pros:

Highly interactive for a child.
Relatively low price for all the things it can do.
Great toy to keep a child busy for hours.
A good toy to develops a child’s senses.
Fun to watch it evolve.

Cons:

Evolves quicker than expected.
In baby and rockstar mode, the sounds Rizmo make can be scary for a child.
In Rockstar mode, it only records a couple of seconds of the song you sing and then remixes it.
